They gave me a plaque when I left. I was touched by it. I put it on a shelf.

19 years of service
I spent 25 years as a copywriter. 19 of them were inside one company. On the way out they handed me a leaving plaque, and that is what it said.
It took me a while to work out what it meant. The answer is the reason The Ghost exists.
Nobody sets out to sound like nobody. They are simply rewarded for it, early and often, until they start doing it to themselves without being asked. At 14 somebody with a red pen taught them to write for a marker instead of a reader. I did the same thing to myself for 3 years before I noticed. I’d like them back.
My work now sits where thinking, authority, language and commercial usefulness meet. I am not here to inflate your expertise or manufacture a louder version of you. I bring structure, challenge, synthesis and a well-developed intolerance for language that sounds correct but says nothing. You bring the experience, judgement and occasionally inconvenient truth.
The roster
Reach earned, taken from client analytics exports for the dates stated. Growth and consistency, not revenue, because the revenue is theirs and I don’t claim it. Part of the roster is white label and will never appear here, which is the point of hiring a ghost.
